Timeline Navigation

`j`	Next Tweet
`k`	Previous Tweet

Composing & Direct Messages

Composing Tweets

`n`	Compose new Tweet from anywhere
`Ctrl + Enter` (or `Cmd + Enter` on Mac)	Send Tweet (while composing)
`Esc`	Close compose window (will ask to save draft)
Type `@username`	Mention a user. Auto-suggests as you type.
Type `#hashtag`	Add a hashtag. Auto-suggests popular or recent ones.
Paste link	Links automatically shorten. Previews appear if available.
Add a GIF	Use the GIF icon to search and insert GIFs.
Add a poll	Use the Poll icon to create a poll with up to 4 options.
Add a Thread	Use the ‘+’ icon to add another Tweet below the current one before sending.

Adding Media

Photo Icon	Attach photos (up to 4 per Tweet).
Video Icon	Attach videos.
GIF Icon	Search and add animated GIFs.
Add ALT text	After adding media, click ‘Add description’ to provide alt text for accessibility.

Direct Messages (in DM view)

`Enter`	Send message (default setting)
`Shift + Enter`	New line/paragraph (if ‘Enter’ sends)
`Ctrl + Enter` (or `Cmd + Enter` on Mac)	Send message (if ‘Enter’ makes new line)
`Esc`	Close the current DM conversation
Photo Icon	Attach photos or videos to a DM.
GIF Icon	Search and add GIFs to a DM.
Emoji Icon	Add emojis to a DM.

Search, Profiles & Lists

Search Shortcuts

`/`	Jump to search box
`Enter`	Perform search (after typing query)
`Esc`	Clear search box/Close search results dropdown
`Ctrl + K` (or `Cmd + K` on Mac)	Open search/command palette
Use Keywords	Search for words or phrases.
Use `@username`	Search for users.
Use `#hashtag`	Search for hashtags.
Use a URL	Search for Tweets linking to a specific URL.

Profile Navigation

g then p
Go to your own profile from anywhere.

Click username or profile picture
Navigate to any user’s profile from their Tweet.

Profile Tabs
Switch between Tweets, Replies, Media, Likes, Highlights on a profile page.

Follow/Unfollow Button
Located prominently on the profile page.

More Options (...)
Access options like Block, Mute, Report, Embed Profile, etc.

Edit Profile Button
Located on your own profile to change bio, picture, banner, etc.

Lists Management

g then l
Go to your Lists page from anywhere.

Create a new List
Button is available on the Lists page.

Add/Remove users
From a List’s page, click ‘Edit List’. Or from a user’s profile via the ... menu.

Subscribe to Lists
You can view and subscribe to public lists created by other users.

Pin Lists
Pin your favorite lists to the top of your home timeline for quick access.

Private vs. Public
Choose who can see your lists when creating them.

Lists as Timelines
Viewing a List shows a timeline only of Tweets from users on that list.

Tips, Tricks & Advanced Search

Useful Tips

Save Drafts: If you close the compose window without sending, your Tweet will be saved as a draft (unless empty).

Bookmarks: Click the share icon on a Tweet and select ‘Bookmark’ to save it privately. Access via the Bookmark icon in the left sidebar.

Mute Conversations: Click the ... on a Tweet to mute the conversation. You won’t receive notifications for new replies.

Advanced Mute: Mute specific words, phrases, usernames, or hashtags via Settings > Privacy and safety > Mute and block > Muted words.

Analytics: If you have an X account, you can access analytics for your Tweets, profile visits, etc., at analytics.twitter.com.

Circles: Share Tweets with a select group of people instead of all followers by selecting ‘X Circle’ before posting.

Pin Tweet: Go to one of your Tweets, click the ... menu, and select ‘Pin to your profile’ to keep it at the top.

Advanced Search Operators

`"exact phrase"`	Find Tweets containing an exact phrase.
`word1 OR word2`	Find Tweets containing either word1 or word2.
`word1 -word2`	Find Tweets containing word1 but not word2.
`from:username`	Find Tweets from a specific user.
`to:username`	Find Tweets sent as replies to a specific user.
`@username`	Find Tweets mentioning a specific user.
`#hashtag`	Find Tweets with a specific hashtag.
`min_faves:100`	Find Tweets with at least 100 likes.
`min_retweets:50`	Find Tweets with at least 50 retweets.
`min_replies:10`	Find Tweets with at least 10 replies.
`since:YYYY-MM-DD`	Find Tweets sent on or after a specific date.
`until:YYYY-MM-DD`	Find Tweets sent on or before a specific date.
`filter:media`	Only show Tweets containing media (photos, videos, GIFs).
`filter:links`	Only show Tweets containing links.
`filter:replies`	Only show replies.
